Like her father, Susan was a good listener, a good problem solver and quickly became an expert in property management, leasing, and sales in the Santa Fe area.  She purchased the business, changed the name and has now been in Real Estate for 35 years. 

As President of Varela Real Estate, Inc., she is always there for her agents and customers, generously giving the guidance needed to help transactions go smoothly.

Her professional goals have always been for her Buyers, Sellers, Tenants, Landlords and Agents to become successful in the Real Estate business.

Susan’s love for her community has given her the opportunity to serve on many Boards, Committee, Councils, etc., such as:

Susan is married to Michael Varela, who has retired from government, and is now the Commercial Property Manager & Leasing Agent for Varela Real Estate.  They have two children:  Phillip Varela, son and Broker Associate with Varela Real Estate, Sharon Williard, daughter, married to son-in-law Clay Williard, a Qualifying Broker with Varela Real Estate, and Kara, Nate, Ariana and Catherine Williard, grandchildren from Sharon and Clay. 

Susan loves the beautiful New Mexico mountains where she spends time hiking and skiing (both downhill and cross-country) and always looks forward to her annual 4-5 day river trip down the Chama or the San Juan.
